SMASH CLUB - SEP 23
Smash Club Members!
First, sorry for the late notice on this quarters event. We’ve been busy running around working on some amazing things with the truck and hadn’t sent our invitation out.
If you’ve been paying attention to our social media, you’ve likely seen our recent collaboration with our homies Fork Grove BBQ. Dylan is working hard to bring true, authentic Texas style BBQ to Anderson. I’m not exaggerating when I say his BBQ is the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eating a lot of BBQ.
We revealed our first collaboration in the form of the smoked brisket burger. Fresh ground brisket, formed into huge 8oz pattys, seasoned with his traditional brisket seasoning, smoked over hardwood coals to a medium doneness. We then took them, quickly fried them on our seasoned flat top, melting gooey American cheese using some reserved drippings from the smoking process. Served inbetween a buttered, toasted potato roll and our signature No.5 Sauce, with Fork Grove BBQs house made pickles on the side. We expect to add this into our monthly special rotations.
Now on to the Smash Club…
This quarter our special menu item, exclusively for our Smash Club members Is a chili cheese half smoke. Half smokes are a Washington DC staple, made famous by Ben’s Chili Bowl. Watch this short video to learn more about Ben’s Chili Bowl.
Fork Grove BBQ made, and smoked our half smoked. Half beef, half pork expertly seasoned, then smoked over hardwood. We fry them on our flat top, place them in a buttered, toasted potato roll, topped with yellow mustard, diced onions, our house made short rib chili, and finished with grated white cheddar cheese.
As always, these events are no cost to our beloved Smash Club members.

Fork Grove BBQ x Matty’s Pattys
Our special this week is one long in the making. Our good friend Dylan with Fork Grove BBQ has created some amazing 8oz smoked brisket pattys exclusively for us. These pattys have been rubbed with his signature spices and smoked over coals, the Texas way. We met Dylan a few weeks ago and he runs an amazing team that puts out a product far too good for Anderson. We are excited about this collaboration and hope to do more in the future.
Our smoked burgers will be served with our signature No. 5 Sauce and American cheese. Limited availability this weekend only! No substitutions please!

Our next Smash Club event is rapidly approaching!
We have something extremely special for our next Smash Club event. Thanks again to our friends at Fork Grove BBQ for helping us bring this together.
We will be serving up a regional favorite, the Chili Cheese Half Smoke. Half Smokes, a half beef, half pork sausage smoked, hail from the Washington DC area and were made famous by the legendary Ben’s Chili Bowl. Fork Grove is making our sausages which we will pair with a home made short-rib chili, topped with shredded white cheddar, all served on a toasted potato roll.

For those asking about the famous Chicken Sando, we are working on adding that as a rotating special. We should have more news about that soon.

Hard to believe we are already in September! We have a busy month planned, Smash Club exclusive event, awesome specials, and some new merch!
This weeks special is the “Guberburger”, our regular smash burger topped with creamy peanut butter and bread and butter pickles (think Thai style beef stir fry with a peanut sauce). The “Guberburger” made it’s name at a small drive in diner called The Wheel Inn in Sedalia, Missouri. The Wheel Inn had been in business since the 1940s but due to the changing roadways the diner was forced to close in 2007. Come try a "Guberburger” this weekend!

This week’s special is in honor of my step-dad, John, who passed on St. Patrick’s Day. He played football for Bethany College and went by “Moon” on the field. In honor of him we are doing our version of a duxelles, traditional found in beef wellington. Duxelles is a mix of mushrooms, shallots, and herbs, sautéed in butter, sherry and reduced to a paste. The Moon will feature duxelles, Gruyère cheese, our signature No. 5 Sauce, on a toasted potato roll. Think of this as an elevated mushroom and swiss burger.

2022 Anderson Soiree
We have a jam-packed weekend coming up but the good thing for you is we will be in one spot all weekend. The Soiree is back in Anderson, SC and we will be downtown Friday and Saturday. There will be live music, local vendors, and plenty of things to do.
We will be set up behind Carolina Wren Park, our regulars will know this spot well, but if you are new to us below is a map that will give you an idea. Be sure to check out the Soiree event page as well, there will be lots of street closures downtown for the Soiree.

After a small hiatus the newsletter is back! We’ve been running around the past few weeks and haven’t been able to get one out to ya’ll. We’re excited to be back. We have a couple things to cover this week so let’s dive in.
First, say a prayer for the Burger Club. We loved all the support we got but after some consideration we decided to go into a different direction. Goodbye Burger Club, hello Smash Club. Beyond the name the biggest change is the 10% discount on merchandise now applies to all purchases at the truck, including food and drink. So here’s a revised list of perks for joining the Smash Club:

The Smash Club
Introducing the Smash Club. You can be a part of this exclusive club with access to private taste testing events, discounts, and exclusive Matty’s Pattys gear.
Membership costs $100 annually. Members receive their own hotel key tag that has their membership number. Members must show this tag to get access to discounts and it is used as an invitation to our private events. Each year members will receive a new hotel key tag along with a swag bag with limited edition merchandise.
This year the hotel key tag is turquoise and the limited merchandise is a “It’s Burger Time Flag” and a tangerine Matty’s Pattys koozie.

Breakfast service is back this weekend. Come grab our signature breakfast burger, tater tots, ECB & Co. coffee, and our new featured pastry from our friend Gerald Hawkins, Jr. This week is a buckwheat and spelt flour crust with a caramelized strawberry & lime, candied ginger filling. We have a limited number of these this weekend. Gerald does some amazing work and we’re excited to partner with him on this and future project. Go follow him on social media.
